FAQ
How do I determine which UltraSlide is right for me?
This is the most common – and challenging – question we receive. It depends on several factors – your training goals, available space, budget, and physical size – namely your height. As a baseline, we tell potential customers to look at the UltraSlide 8 as the best all-around unit, and the UltraSlide 6 for a more economical and portable option. We encourage you look at the different boards on our website, then contact us at info@ultraslide.com with specific questions regarding your training and usage so we can recommend the exact right product for you.
Do UltraSlide boards have adjustable slide lengths?
Yes, our UltraSlide 8- and 10-foot boards do have adjustable slide lengths. The 8 has adjustments at 5, 6, and 7 feet as well as the full 8 feet, while the 10 has adjustments at 7, 8 and 9 feet as well as the full 10 feet.
Whats sports are UltraSlide good for training?
Literally EVERY sport know has utilized UltraSlide board for training and conditioning. Not just the obvious ones like hockey and speed skating, but also golf, water polo, and cricket. Lateral agility is critical to virtually every sport, while core stability is vital to all sports. UltraSlide products are among the best tools to train these and many other aspects of functional movement critical for sport and life.
Is UltraSlide used for physical therapy?
Yes, extensively…particularly for ACL rehabilitation.
UltraSlide boards allow for low-impact, closed chain functional exercise that emphasizes the frontal plane movement that is so critical for return to play and activities of daily living. Using an UltraSlide also improves strength, balance, coordination, core strength, and proprioception.
What surface can the UltraSlide be used on? Can it be used on carpet? Will it scratch my hardwood floors?
The UltraSlide boards can be used on almost any surface. The ideal surfaces are rubber floors, low (office-style) carpet, or hardwood floors. However, using the board on a dusty cement surface may cause the rubber pads on the base to lose their grip. In this case, you might need to place the UltraSlide on an area rug or carpeted area to keep the base from shifting during use. Keeping the floor clean and dust-free can prevent this from happening.
The board shouldn’t scratch hardwood floors at all. But, if you want to use extra caution, a towel or yoga mat can be placed (perpendicular to the board) under the middle hinge on the baseboard. The rubber pads underneath the base will keep the board from slipping despite the placement of this towel.
How is the UltraSlide stored? Can it be stored folded in half?
The UltraSlide 5, 6, BB Max, and Stretch Board can be easily stored under a bed, behind a couch, or against a wall.
The baseboard of the UltraSlide 8 and 10 does fold in half. However, the polymer slide surface that goes over the baseboard is a solid piece that does not fold; this allows for a seamless slide across the unit.
The fully assembled 8 and 10 board can be:
- Leaned against a wall – with the long length of the board on the ground – when not in use.
- If strong wall hooks are installed in the workout space, the assembled board can be hung on the wall. Bear in mind, the hooks must be able to securely hold 40-55 lbs.
- The UltraSlide can also be disassembled and stored by removing the bumpers and slide surface and folding the baseboard in half.
How do I keep my UltraSlide slick?
When the slide surface begins to feel “sticky,” follow these steps:
- Clean the surface with warm water and a cotton towel.
- Dry with another cotton towel.
- Once the surface is clean, spray it with UltraSlide Slide Polish (included with most boards).
- Spray directly onto the slide surface in W’s.
- Wipe with a clean, dry cotton towel and buff with another towel.
Avoid over-polishing; it is only required once a week at most if you use the board daily.
Also, please do not walk around with the Slide Slippers on. This will attract dirt and dust to the slippers and cause your sliding to be slower, as well as potentially cause damage to the slide surface.
What are UltraSlide boards made of?
UltraSlide boards are made from a variety of materials, depending on which model you are looking at. Our commercial-grade 8, 10, and Octagon boards are made with a seven-ply laminated plywood baseboard, special polymer slide surface, recycled rubber non-slip pads on the underside, and USA-sourced hardwood bumpers. The 5- and 6-foot boards are made from the same special polymer material used on our commercial-grade boards, as well as recycled plastic bumpers. Our bumperless Stretch Board and BB Max are both made from 100% recycled components – recycled polymer surfaces and non-slip underside strips.
What is the Slide Polish made from? Is it safe?
Our Slide Polish is specially formulated for us and is produced in a factory less than an hour from our production facility. It consists of 96% water, is totally safe and non-toxic, and odorless.
Are UltraSlide boards made in the USA?
YES! Every UltraSlide board – as well as all of our branded accessories, are proudly made in the USA. That’s the way it’s been since our founding in 1993, and that’s how it will always be. In addition, most of our components are sourced within 500 miles of our production and fulfillment facilities north of Chicago, and many components are made from recycled materials or reclaimed materials. That is why we are very proud to have the tagline Sustainably Made in the USA!
Can I travel on a plane with my UltraSlide?
The overall weight of the UltraSlide and the fact that it needs to be packed in two oversized boxes make traveling on a plane difficult. Therefore, we do not recommend it. If you need to have your UltraSlide transported to another location, we recommend shipping it via UPS or another freight carrier. Please contact us, and we can assist you with this planning.
Do you offer discounts on UltraSlide slideboards? Do you ever have sales?
We don’t generally have sales except for a promotion or two during the holiday season.
From time to time, we do encounter boards with minor cosmetic issues that cannot be sold as new. We also occasionally have a customer that wants to change the size of their UltraSlide and returns their existing unit, resulting in an available used board.
Please contact us at info@ultraslide.com regarding availability and pricing of blemished or used boards.
Can my logo be put on the UltraSlide?
YES! We have become well-known for customizing UltraSlide boards with the logo of professional, college, and high school teams, physical therapy clinics, hospitals, training centers, and many other institutions and businesses. If you have a logo, we can put it on an UltraSlide!
We require a high-resolution vector file (.eps or .ai) to create your logo. A proof will be emailed to you for approval.
NOTE: We cannot put licensed team logos on UltraSlide boards for “fans.” The photos of team boards you see were made specifically for use by that organization.
Do you ship outside of the USA?
Yes! We ship worldwide using UPS or DHL. Please contact us to place an international order.
How long will it take to receive my order?
Orders for stock products usually ship within 5 business days.
USA and Canada orders take 1-7 business days to arrive depending on the location. International deliveries can take anywhere from 7-16 business days. Delivery details will be provided in your confirmation email.
How long has UltraSlide existed?
